i often wonder how life would have been if solomon and i were friends.

just a thought really.

Christmas with the family in Florida was beautiful.  i miss the ohio snow though.  i gave idania (20) the captivating book, hilly (12) the connect four game, vivi (5) a stuffed pink pig that i named ‘chummy’ and mom… a box of chocolates.  it is kind of weird watching people everywhere in shorts and t-shirts after having just left the snow.

i got a hat, gap gift card, neat wall clock, and an iPod on the condition that i gave up my old one to my mom.  i think i would have been set with just the hat though (it’s a neat hat), but i did agree on the iPod exchange and the new one is in the mail.

although it did involve some serious thought, i made the decision about a week ago to stay in ohio.  just to make sure, i passed it through my close circle of friends before making it final and then addressed the family.  i then revoked my two week notice and asked for a promotion — they said i deserved it and it will be waiting for me when i return from florida — “erik, that’s the best news i’ve heard all day” was their reply.  that made my evening.

i’ve had some folks ask about the two books in development — they’re coming along well, thanks for asking.  🙂  in other news… i found out a month or so ago that a couple random articles i wrote will be published in the june 06 and september 06 issues of ATF magazine (NexGen Publishing / Cook Communications).  that’s pretty encouraging — some publishers see this as me being a published author,  but in any case, it’s still pretty neat that i have something in a magazine.  Doug… thanks for your support and for believing in me — it means a lot.

My sister is dating a pretty stellar guy, and for Christmas, we helped get them two tickets to Disney World.  needless to say, they’re both pretty pumped.  i just knew that i would have really enjoyed a gift like that, so why not help set this guy up to win with something similar?  She just sat down next to me with her sphere of fragrances… girls.  😉

here’s a phase that’s (in a word really) been stuck in my head recently.  the word: “every”… and each time i watch tv or hear some pseudo-“professional” opinion about life, i think of the word.  specifically, it comes from the scripture in phil 2:11 in where it states “every knee will bow and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord” — i’m just not able to shake it because one day, someday, no matter what race or religion… a light bulb will go off for everyone when they finally realize: Jesus Christ is Lord.  every time i hear another opinion on why heaven doesn’t exist or there is no God, i just think of the scripture and the light bulb.  just thought i’d share.

well, that’s it — i know maybe two or three may read this.

albuquerque.

  1. albuwuerque? Anyways…glad to hear you had a good Chrismas. FL Christmas’ are the best. glad idania is dating a stellar guy. and glad your books are coming along. we still need to do Sonny’s. Phil. 2 thing. I’ve thought about this a lot too. the whole “arguement,” or “debate” about people who have never heard the gospel…..will they go to heaven or hell? how can they be held accountable, or punished if they never knew? surely God is just and they’ll get a chance in heaven to accept Jesus. that whole thing. I like the phil. 2 verse that you had….b/c every knee will bow and tongue confess, so if you had the chance in heaven to accept Jesus….it’s be impossible to deny him, right? i don’t know. just a few thoughts that aren’t completely formulated.

  2. Sounds like you had a great Christmas. I am glad you were able to make it home, it is hard to be away from family. Congrats on the job and I am sure it is nice to know what you are doing for awhile. Glad your sister found a great guy, it’s refreshing to know that it still happens once in a while. My grandfather is visiting from Alaska and it is an interesting experience as usual. He has some interesting opinions about life, death and God. We gave him a bible for his birthday and I just gave him a book for Christmas to go with it. I must say that being around someone who is so different helps strengthen my convictions. I think about what the bible says, the truths we hold dear and then hold his beliefs up to them and it is a striking contrast. As a result I find myself latching on to my convictions more and more, I find them to be very comforting and encouraging. Just some random thoughts I have been thinking. There are many more thoughts just not complete enough to post yet. But who is to say when a thought is complete anyway? lol, drive safe back all the way to Ohio!
