class of 2005 report
“…as I was prophesying, there was a noise, a rattling sound, and the bones came together, bone to bone. I looked, and tendons and flesh appeared on them and skin covered them… and breath entered them; they came to life and stood up on their feet – a vast army.”
ezekiel 37:7-8,10
I just wanted to report to the former class of our new 04-05 class. Let me be one of the first to say that this new class is unlike any class I have seen before. There’s a feel to this class that my peers and even staff have picked up on. Usually, the feel is that the new class is dry and worse than the previous… but this class…. it’s an army. They are hungry for the Lord and all I see is a legion of men and women ready to take a year on. Sure, things may get a little rough, complacency may set in, but I know that the Lord has His hand-picked seasoned warriors here who will not let anything come in their way and are ready to start a year strong. I have spoken with some of them and all I see is a hunger… I saw only little of this in the beginning of my year, but I see it everywhere right now with this class.
This morning during morning exercise, when we did our exercises together… we only stopped once to get back in sync. Once. Do you remember how many times we had to stop on our first day??? Over and over, it seemed! This class is ready to take on this year, and I am glad that I get to serve by their side in helping to forcefully advance the cause of Christ to the lost. I’m so glad that these warriors didn’t just waste a aimless year in college or a “year off” sitting on their rears, but took the bull by the horns and came to this place to make a difference. Even one of my dear friends from home, Jane, is here… I’m glad she is a part of this new class.. it’s the one that fits her best.
It doesn’t take an “honor academy” to become a warrior for Christ, but it does take a life of intense discipline to first find the vision and purpose for your life and enable you to beat your body and make it your slave so that you will not be disqualified while advancing Christ (I Cor 9:27). I’m glad to be a part of a class such as this, ready to do just that. Sure, it may be smaller… but I have a feeling that God intended for it to be that way to envelope intimacy.
In closing, I just want to let the former class know… our flame is being passed down strong.
That’s so exciting Erik! Thank you for that report. I was really concerned for your class when it came in and throughout the year you guys had a difficult time so to hear that this new class is so on fire really lifts my spirits.
