ShoutFest

Hung out with Ron Luce and his daughter Hannah again over the weekend.  This was probably the most that I’ve hung out with him in combination.  His daughter further inspires me to be a great father and Ron further inspires me to just have a greater passion for the Lord.  Anyway, we didn’t hang out just to hang out, I had to work and handle all marketing logistics on the ground at an event called “Shout Fest”.  The event was held in Jackson, TN on Sat and Columbus, MS on Sun.  Mississippi was a little close to home because I was able to see the gas outages, experience not being able to make a cell phone call (“all circuits were busy”) and see some refugees up-close.  On the plane ride home, I got to talk with a German Television reporter who told me about New Orleans… way too horrific to even fathom.

It was a great weekend… i felt like a little boy because I had my first two rental cars ever all to myself.  That was the best part.  I bought the new Toby Mac remix CD and just jammed in both cars with the windows down.  Good times, good times… all the way until I left my iPod in the car as I flew back home.  I realized it when I was on the plane, having fun talking to a little girl (we played the travel version of ‘guess who’, i whooped her 8 times in a row… her dad laughed at her).  Yeah, so… it was a great weekend… and yes, my iPod was found and being shipped back to me (i still can’t believe i left the thing in the car).

Erik, I’m glad to hear that you had fun. Yes having kids is so rewarding. But you have to grow with them. It’s a job everyone gets with no experiance. I’m happy to hear that you got your ipod back, that was a miracle. So did you leave the rental car messy or did you clean it out before you returned it? Have a good one. and I still have you in prayers about the job for you. rex

    remember to pray ALL ways..

  2. Must have been amazing to be in two cars at once…

Can’t believe you left your ipod.  I thought it was attached, like it had become another extremity.

Also… didn’t you know that you’re supposed to let little girls win?  My grandma didn’t understand this concept, either, and I am now scarred for life.

  3. Aw Erik! I miss seeing you around too. It is different being here at home and not having any strong Christian guys around to be my brothers. I have my real brother but he is a slacker, lol. I thank God all the time for you and the rest of Selfless. I think about you and Marsh everyday when I put on my glasses. You made my life more clear! Thanks 🙂 If you two hadn’t made me get my eyes checked out I wouldn’t even know how blind I am, haha. Oooo…that is a great analogy for the youth group. Wahoo!

I hope you enjoy your new home in Ohio. Keeping loving Jesus the way you do so well!  If you are ever in need, you know how you can call! Salaam (peace)!

  4. I can picture you with the little girl. Talking to her somewhat like you talk to me when you tell me those jokes… you know “my favorite” jokes.

And something like what Denver said! (You don’t have to call me).

Great Job Erik, So proud of you!

Do you feel like a little kid now? How about now?

Erik,  It’s so refreshing to come and read your xanga…it reminds me of you and I miss you!  I really like your previous post from in the airport.  Just to let you know-  I think being old school romantic is so adorable and even though it may seem as though not many girls like that, I think more than you know do, and I KNOW that yours especially will love it!  So when I read the beginning, I was like aww I wish I could go to an airport you are flying into and wait for you at the baggage claim!  I would love to be that smiling face there excitedly waiting for your arrival!    Well, that’s pretty cool you got to go to Shoutfest, sounds pretty cool that you got to hang with the Mr. Luce man.

That’s so cute that you played travel guess who with that girl, hehe.  I’m glad you’re getting your ipod back, thank goodness!
Well, school is crazy for me, i’m staying really busy, but I miss my friends, I start feeling really weird when I think about HA and how fast it went, and how there are all new people there now.  hmmm  I really want to go to Alumni weekend, I’m not sure if I’m going to do it though- I would seriously have to rely on GOd to provide money for the rest of my semester and year if I chose to do that. ugh  I wish I had lots of money so I could just travel and see all my friends and buy them gifts, and suprise them, and give my money to the churches in New Orleans that are helping people, and, and, and, i could go on and on….

Erik Herrera- a name that will be forever printed in my mind and heart, I wonder if i’ll ever see you again…

its amazing how free it makes you.
putting the music machine in your pocket.
instead of the huge sport discman i was still using.
so i just wanted to say
im glad they found it for you.
now the joy of small transportable music is yours to enjoy again!
     -side note-
