to our future brides…

Thank you for truly waiting for us.  Thank you for pursuing the Lord in such a way that you don’t just wait to be fed, but you instead hunger after the truth of His presence and feed yourself His rare treasures from the resources around you and His Word.  Thank you for surrounding yourself around other ladies who sharpen themselves around the same truths that you do.  We look into the eyes of your closest friends and see the very face and heart of the Lord.  Thank you for how you conduct yourself around other men, oh thank you.  Thank you for replacing that love with a love for the Lord as if He were the true lover and identity of your soul, not us or any guy around you.  Thank you for praying for us.  Thank you for placing your heart so deep in the heart of the Lord, that we have to search His heart to find yours.  Why?  Because He has slowly been revealing to us who you are, before we even meet you.  Stay strong, our brides, for just as you are waiting for us, we’re patiently waiting for you.  You’re not alone.

  1. So, a lot of people have already said it…but I’ll say it again. Thank you for speaking on my husband’s behalf… When surrounded by this constant pressure to date and give myself totally away, it’s hard to remember why I’m waiting and WHO I’m waiting for. So thank you for the reminder that there are godly men out there who are waiting, who want a godly wife as much as I want a godly husband.

God, give me patience. God, prepare my heart…

    Thanks Erik.

  2. So I’ve been really getting frusterated lately at the lack of brothers who really know how to be a real brother and gaurd a girls heart… who really know how to protect her to the point that her future husband would want to shake his hand in the future and say “Thank you for being the kind of brother that has pointed her toward the Lord so she could someday be my bride”… there are a few brothers on this campus that do that, but it’s sad to say not many… once again, like the others have posted, THANK YOU FOR THIS POST… it’s really encouraging to know someone that’s more concerned with pointing his sisters toward the Lord, protecting them, and letting them know their wait is not in vain. Thanks for the blessing bro

  3. Wow!!  Erik that is such an encouraging post!!!  I believe the Lord will always stay the lover of our souls as we long and thirst for Him..  Continue to thirst for Him more and more each day..  Thank you for the encouragement again friend..  Happy Thanksgiving!!!       Dixie Austin

  4. Erik, I was showing my dad around xanga and had him read some of your posts. He was so blessed by the one from October 19th about going that he used it in his sermon today. I thought that was cool. You are a blessing. Thanks brother. –Anna

It is very important that you are not unequally yoked.  Your future mate has to keep their first love, first. God’s way is best.  You have to know the scriptures to understand what His way is.

  6. Erik, like them all before me, thanks for putting that into words. I love you bro, staying strong at 24, for the Lord and the Lord only…

You are an example and encouragement to me as well. It’s good to know how serious you are about seeking the Lord. The hedonistic Christian, in full pursuit of his God, his desire. Gotta go, just realized my male company left and I’m still online!

  12. So, you don’t know me.  I was on a retreat last weekend and one of my friends showed me a printout of this “To our future brides…” entry.  I felt compelled to comment to you about it, even though I don’t exactly what I want to say.  The entry really touched my heart and was extremely encouraging to me.  If there are guys out there who have this same philosophy that you do, they are worth waiting for.  I had started to believe that these same qualities that I look for in a guy were idealistic and inaccessible.

I admire your openness, and your strength in God, and I hope that someday I can find a guy who thinks this way and that I never have to settle for less than that.

    Thank You for inspiring hope!
