Thirsty hearts are those whose
longings have been wakened
by the touch of God within them.

So, on my way to work each morning, i like to put the windows down, cruise, and perhaps even sing along to my iPod. This morning in particular, I was singing at my normal Windows-Down-Not-Hesitating-65mph-Sometimes-Fake-Microphone-In-Hand singing voice, but instead going only 5mph. I didn’t realize I was singing at flank volume until I noticed two construction workers in the distance — far distance, mind you — who were quietly shoveling and minding their own business, suddenly stop what they were doing, look up in my direction rather quickly and give me one of those blank and confused doe-in-the-headlight looks. i passed by, laughed, though slighly embarassed, but kept on singing (just not as loud).

or if you prefer the redneck version…

life is really how you make it — nothing more, nothing less. details can overwhelm you if you let it, life can try to take you down, and death can even knock at your door. think about that if you wish, but then remember greater is He within you than he that is in this world. greater is He. so stand up, take a deep breath — ok, take an even deeper one (life isn’t perfect, i know) — and relax. chill. chillax. you’ll make a mistake from time to time (and that’s ok!), but don’t get caught up with all the complexities of life that may result from it. exhale. with all my friends, my beautiful family, and even luke, the 18-pound cat — i’m already blessed — and here’s a secret: somewhere past every overwhelming detail in your life, you’re blessed too.
so i had a little fun with iMovie Sunday
it’s about cubans and a new door knob

In this one-take un-edited less-than-two-minute documentary, you will have seen me pull into my church, flown over a church speed bump, parked the car, ran to the building, said hello/”howdy” to a couple folk, and enter the building with plenty of time to spare to catch worship — nothing fancy, just simple worship (my favorite). this video hardly does the worship justice, but i will tell you this — the worship leader… he’s Hatian.
