A simple trip to Wal-Mart somehow ended up with an awkward experience that although is a little embarrassing, I’d still like to log this one away. Yesterday, I took a group of my graduate peers to Wal-Mart to get some much needed groceries. For those of you who know how valuable a Wal-Mart trip is, this one was very efficient as I have my vacation that starts tomorrow and I needed to get some last-minute groceries as I’m cooking a barbecue for the boys in the quad today (hamburgers).
As we were returning to my car and started to load groceries into my very size-limited trunk, I felt the urge to just roll the windows down and pump this beautiful love song (“Can’t Take My Eyes Off of You” — oldie) that I had in my head. The other guys thought it was cute although felt awkward that it was so loud and there were people starring at us, but I just started to sing and dance along to the song as they were loading groceries.
Now to set this up, for the 20 months that I’ve been at Teen Mania, never has there been any interns that I have noticed in the parking lot…. but of course on this day… just another isle over from us, were 4 or 5 big grins from other intern ladies (including 2 CA’s) just starring in our direction (yup, they recognized the song and saw me dancing and singing). We all smiled back, but 1 second later, I immediately jumped back to the controls and killed the loudness. The embarrassment was done, but the guys got a good laugh out of it.
that’s really cute, erik
haha that’s halarious! I wish I could’ve seen that…but it actually doesn’t surprise me. 🙂 Thanks for the blessings for this weekend!
I miss radio time with DJ Erik…ha ha…

……smooooth operator!….
Yes children. 🙂 That would have been priceless to see Erik. I miss your music and your little “cheer me up” emails. Sharing an office with you was an experience I won’t be forgetting anytime soon. Peace out…bro! 😉 Like that. haha. Night
i wish i had been one of those ladies, would have loved to have seen this. lol
Erik you are such a blessing, I’m sure that really made the day for those ladies. Thanks for not being afraid to be yourself (even if it is a little akward at times 😉
Hey Erik, just wanted to say hey. : )
Tiffany
that’s a great story….I can picture it now…..thanks for sharing, and like Joanna said, thanks for not being afraid to be yourself – it’s refreshing when people can be themselves….
ah ha so you guys got a lot of attention but just think…
now many people got a good laugh
so thats a very good thing!!!
when our room was all together um about a week ago or so…
we obviously had to go to walmart too *bc that is what interns did most*
so we put on vibrant hats and purses, took pictures and did quite a number of fun yet attention getting things… it was hard not to get attention though.
7 girls all together smiling from ear to ear bc they are near each other once again
and then laughing because we are filled with so much JOY!
it was a blessing that room 1106 reunion.
enjoy your time still within close proximity of those wonderful people
you’re always caught in awkward situation, aren’t you?
How awkward…
but I can see why the ladies smiled.
We like dorks…they make us happy…
